Mr. Harold James Pinckney, son of Isaac Pinckney and the late Carrie Pinckney, was born August 27, 1963. Harold departed his earthly home Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Lexington Medical Center.
Harold was raised in Charleston and Cross, SC. He became a member of Jehovah A.M.E. Church at an early age. On November 25, 1989, Harold was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life – the late Virgestine Wiggins Pinckney. Harold and Virgestine were blessed with three children: Jerrell R. Pinckney, Jasmine R. Pinckney, and Janai R. Pinckney. The children worked together as a team to care for their father during his illness. Harold was employed as an Operational Supervisor with UPS in Columbia, SC.
Harold had a BIG personality. His smile and laughter would light up the room; he would always make his presence known. He never met a stranger. If a person did not know who he was he would quickly shake that person’s hand and proudly explain that he was Harold Pinckney….. Carrie and Isaac Pinckney’s oldest son! Harold was a big sports fan. He showed much love and support to his children as they played sports. He was a parent who did a lot of coaching from sidelines during basketball and soccer games. His favorite teams were San Francisco 49ers, Clemson, and The Lakers.
Harold loved spending time with his family and friends. While living in Columbia and North Carolina for a period of time, he always looked forward to the times he could return home and participate in family gatherings.
Those left to cherish his loving memories are his children: Jerrell R. Pinckney, Jasmine R. Pinckney, and Janai R. Pinckney; his father, Isaac Pinckney, Sr.; his siblings: Jerry (Dionne) Pinckney, Sr., Isaac Pinckney, Jr., Hester Glover all of Cross, SC, and Leroy (Camilla) Pinckney of Summerville, SC; his in-laws: Gerald Wiggins of Knoxville, TN, Holister Wiggins, Jr. (Dorothy “Dot”) of Gaston, SC, Reginald (Tonya) Wiggins of Columbia, SC, Carolyn (Ernest) Feemster of Blythewood, SC, Joyce (Jimmy) Thompson of West Columbia, SC, Sandra Pinckney of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Queen (Leon) White of Charlotte, NC; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He will be greatly missed by many!
