Ermine Susie Rogers, formerly of Cross, SC was born September 20, 1915 to the late George Anderson and Mary “Maude” Mazyck Anderson. Ermine was the eldest child of their union. She departed this life on March 5, 2018 in Gaithersburg, MD where she resided.
Ermine received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County, SC. At the age of 14 she moved to live with her “Uncle Jim” James & Munchin Anderson in Detroit, MI.
While living in Cross, SC Ermine was a faithful member of Jehovah AME Church where she served in the Sunday School ministry and the Women’s Auxillary. She was a former member of Jehovah Chapter #203 of the Order of Eastern Star.
In December of 1936, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Sam Butler at the home of her parents. From this union they were blessed with one child, Georgianna Naomi Butler.
In 1965, she married the late Rev. Joseph Rogers. After his passing, she moved to Brooklyn, New York. She worked at Unity Hospital as a dietician aid.
