Ella Blanchard Obituary

Ella Mae Blanchard, 65, was called home on April 8, 2018 at Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC. She was born on November 12, 1952 and Eutawville SC to James Blanchard, Sr. and Alice Blanchard.

In her early years she devoted her life to Christ at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. Ella attended Roberts High in Holly Hill, SC where she graduated with the class of 1971.

Soon after she moved to New York where she lived her adult life. She joined Harden Memorial CME Church under the leadership of Rev. Rogers. She also attended Greater Victory Church and then moved her membership to Whosoever Will Baptist Church, but Springfield Missionary Baptist Church would always be her home.

Ella who was soft-spoken yet sassy at times had a secret passion for beauty, which motivated her to enroll in Wilfred Academy Beauty School in the Bronx, where she became a licensed cosmetologist. She also attended Culinary School.

Ella most known for her soulful cooking that would have everyone coming back for seconds and she didn't mind sharing her recipes.

She was a foster mother to 12 children throughout the years. She worked 30 years before retiring.

Ella was best known as a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, grandmother (Mannah), great grandmother, and cousin. She will always be the most impressionable distinctive person to ever grace our lives with her impactable presence.

Ella is preceded in death by her father, James Blanchard, Sr.; brother, Joseph 'Tender' Blanchard; and a grandson, Zanier Smith.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her daughters, Selena Francis of Bronx, NY, Valery Francis of Lugoff, SC, and Zuliahatu (Raymond) Smith of Moncks Corner, SC; her siblings, James (Margaret) Blanchard, Jr. of Miami, FL, Minnie Jenkins of Eutawville, SC, Florence Blanchard of Bronx, NY, Alice (Joe) Brothers of Hardeeville, SC, Viola Woodley of Eutawville, SC, Curtis Blanchard of Eutawville, SC, Marvin (Debra) Blanchard of Eutawville, SC, Juanetha Blanchard of Eutawville, SC, Karen Jeffries of Miami, FL, Charles Blanchard of Vance, SC, Anderia Blanchard of Eutawville, SC, and Reverend Vernon Blanchard of Elloree, SC; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
