Douglas Oliver

April 1, 1961 ~ October 30, 2017 (age 56) 56 Years Old

On Monday morning, October 30, 2017, Douglas Oliver entered into eternal rest at his daughter’s residence in Eutawville, South Carolina. Douglas, better known as Bubbie, D.O., or The Bar-B-Que Man as some would call him was born on April 1, 1961 to the late Peter Oliver, Sr. and Mary Oliver.

 

Douglas was educated in the public schools and graduated from Roberts High School in 1979. After high school Douglas became employed with Sweatman’s Bar-B-Que of Holly Hill, South Carolina. He was very devoted, hardworking, determined, and passionate at what he did. He was employed with Sweatman’s for thirty plus years until his health began to affect him.

 

Douglas received Christ as his Lord and Savior as a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Eutawville, South Carolina. He was also a well-known person in his community and known to always give a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

 

On May 1, 1987 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Elaine Fuller whom he loved and cherished for thirty years.

 

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Sr. and Mary Oliver; four brothers, Robert Oliver, Joe Louis Sander, Peter Oliver Jr., and Edward Oliver Sr.; five sisters, Mariah Brunson, Lena Reddick, Sara Washington, Ella Mae Blocker, and Mabel Little.

 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a devoted wife, Elaine Oliver; four loving children, Dowaine Fuller, Ashley (Andy) Oliver of Eutawville, South Carolina, Shantae Johnson of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and LaWanda (Joseph) Smith of Norwalk, Connecticut; siblings, Elalise Reddick of Bronx, New York, Sam (Maggie) Oliver of Holly Hill, South Carolina, John (Helen) Oliver of Boston, Massachusetts, and Jerome (Dorthy) Oliver of Santee, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Diane Saxon of Eutawville, South Carolina and Patricia (Mark) Dunning of Mystic, Connecticut; three brothers-in-law, Cleveland Fuller of Boston, Massachusetts, Gerald Fuller, and Darren Fuller of Eutawville, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.
