Daisy Mae Davis

April 23, 1927 ~ January 6, 2018 (age 90) 90 Years Old

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7

Daisy Mae Davis (Maemae) was born in Eutawville, South Carolina, on April 23, 1927. God, in His infinite wisdom peacefully transitioned her to the next realm of life of eternal peace on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center. After 90 years of a life well lived here on earth, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now resting with the Lord.

Daisy Mae was born to the late Mable Sumpter (Empire) Gadson and Isaiah Clark. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Daisy Mae was a strong and faithful servant of the Lord throughout her life. She joined and was baptized at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church where she was an active and faithful member for many years. She served in various capacities such as the Missionary Ministry until her health rendered her unable to attend.

In January 1947 she was joined in holy matrimony to Frankie Davis Sr. During this loving union seven children were born. Frankie proceeded her in death along with one daughter (Katie Davis), three beloved brothers and two sister in-laws; Ellis (Murdell) Gadson, Morris (Joan) Gadson, and John Gadson Sr.

Daisy Mae had such a great love for God, her family, church members, community and friends. She was truly a pillar of the community, and never treated anyone like a stranger. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren dearly and especially loved family gatherings. She enjoyed and took pride in taking care of her family and home for many many years, and even in her failing health she gave orders and did not hesitate telling you what to do and how to do it. She was known for being a little sassy, yet humorous because she was so passionate about feeding the soul with great food and conversations to all who entered her home. She had the biggest and brightest laugh, you couldn't help but laugh with her. For those of us that she touched with her kindness, love, and compassion, she will always shine bright, and bloom like a flower in our hearts...a daisy.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories three daughters: Celeste (Leonard) Washington of Brooklyn, NY; Barbara (Lonnie) Heyward of Columbia, SC; Margaret D. Wright of Eutawville, SC. Three sons: Benjamin Davis of Columbia, SC; O'Neal Davis of Eutawville, SC; Frankie (Mel) Davis Jr. of Woodbridge,VA. . One brother James (Betty) Gadson of White Plains, NY. One sister Gracie Horsley of Charlotte, NC. Sister in-law Henrietta Gadson of Beaufort, SC. Seven grandchildren: Kimya, Kevin, Audelia, Jermaine, Margereta, Ian and JR. Six great-grandchildren. five special caregivers, Annie Ruth Fowels, Rebecca Jenkins, Karen Washington, Josephine Sweatman, and Teresa Wright; a host of nieces, nephews, many other loving relatives, and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
