Curtis Snell Obituary

Mr. Curtis Snell, 62, of 114 Capron Court, Vance, SC departed this life on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at his residence. Curtis was born November 1, 1956 in Vance, South Carolina to the late Daniel and Minnie Mae Small Snell.

He was educated in the Vance public schools and graduated from Roberts High School, Holly Hill, South Carolina. He was baptized at the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Eutawville, South Carolina and sang on the gospel choir. He later became affiliated with the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Creston, SC and continued his singing ministry. He was asked to sing at many funerals and did his best to perform, "JESUS IS ALIVE AND WELL." Back in the day to name a few, Curtis enjoyed playing baseball with his cousins, Bobby Jefferson, Earl Snell, and Nathaniel Snell.

In his daily occupations he was a machine operation technician for ZEUS, Carpentry Technology, Holly Hill Lumber Company, Holly Hill Sewing Room, state park, and restaurant work. Most recently he offered his services to the Vance Senior Citizens Group. He loved the Lord, his family and had a genuine smile that will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Mr. Snell is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Sr.; mother, Minnie Mae (Mrs. Peter); sisters, Elder Ida S. Brown and Sarah S. Sumpter; brother, Johnny Lee Snell; and Little Ruby who died in infancy.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: brothers, William (Mike) Snell of the home, Daniel Snell, Jr. of Sheldon, SC, James-Bill (Malqueen) Snell and Charles Snell of Amityville Long Island, NY, and Tommy Lee (Vincette) Snell of Edinburg, TX; his sisters, Jacqueline (Herman) Shaw of Vance, SC, Pearl (Frank) Goodwin of Eutawville, SC, Rev. Mary S. Washington, and Georgia Gloria (Simon) Gilmore of Orangeburg, SC; a very special dear aunt, Mrs. Jacqueline Young Small of Jamaica, New York (owner of Calvary Cemetery, Hwy. #6, Eutawville, SC), and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
