Carolyn Jamison Obituary

A time to be born… Carolyn Joseph Jamison was born August 21, 1932 in Vance, SC to the late John Wesley and Maebell Joseph. 

A time to grow…Carolyn grew up in the Vance area and attended Bull School in Vance, South Carolina.  

A time to worship… Carolyn was converted at an early age while attending Live Oak A.M.E. Church in Vance, SC. She served faithfully when she was young and it continued in her adult life. 

A time to love… Carolyn married William Jamison, Sr. in 1952 in Vance, SC and their union was blessed with six children. She was a dedicated mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, and friend. She always had a will do what was right not only for her family and friends, but for those with whom she worked and those in the community in which she lived.

A time to serve…Carolyn served God in all that she did by putting Him first. Her service to Live Oak A.M.E. Church was widespread. She served faithfully on the Local Women’s Missionary Society, the Gospel Choir, and as a Stewardess until her health began to fail.Carolyn was consecrated as a Deaconess by the Right Reverend Bishop Preston Williams of the 7th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Church. Carolyn also served her community through her God given gifts and talents of singing. She sang with a community gospel group for many years.

A time to work…Carolyn worked for many years at Bilton’s Café in St. George and Cypress Shore Marinain Eutawville, SC. She was also a lifelong homemaker making sure the needs of her family were met. She was blessed to have the opportunity to assist with providing childcare for grandchildren.

A time to die…God called her home from labor to reward on July 4, 2019 at 10:30am at McLeod Health Clarendon in Manning, SC. She lived a full life and was ready to meet her maker.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father,   daughter Betty L.Guess, daughter- in-law Mariah Ann Jamison, and grandson Cory James.

A time to mourn… Carolyn memories will forever and always be cherished by his four sons, William Jamison, Jr. and James Lee (Carolyn) Jamison of Vance, SC. Leroy (Cassandra) Jamison of Goose Creek, SC, Wilbur (Sheila) Jamison of Santee, SC, Two daughters, Maybell (Thomas) Brown of Ladson, SC, and Frances (Charles) Milhouse of Bamberg, a son-in-law Jacob Guess of Vance, SC; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; A godchild Geralease Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
