Lillian Asbury Life Reflections

Lillian Rembert Ladson-Asbury, 66, the daughter of the late Lizzie Ladson and Isaac Rembert was born on August 24, 1957, in Eutawville, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at her residence in Vance, South Carolina.

Early in life, Lillian gave her life to the Lord. She was baptized and became a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church of Eutawville, SC where she sang on the Young Adult Choir. Then later she moved her membership to Rock Hill AME Church of Vance, SC.

Lillian was a people person. She truly loved her family and friends. There wasn't a stranger that she wouldn't start a conversation with. She loved fishing. She would go down to the lake almost everyday if she could. She enjoyed crocheting, and sewing pillows, which she was given the nickname, "The Pillow Lady" at the flea market. It was understood by all that she was a selfless person who operated with a spirit of gratitude. Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

She received her education in Orangeburg County District and graduated from Roberts High class of 1976. Lillian worked as a teacher's aide and school bus driver for several years with Orangeburg County School District. Lillian attended the first class of Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology in Orangeburg, SC, and graduated becoming a licensed cosmetologist and establishing her own hair salon (Diamonds Beauty Salon) in Eutawville, SC. Lillian also worked for Primerica Insurance as an insurance agent winning an award for being one of their top salesperson.

In 1995 she married the love of her life, Harvey Asbury and have been together for over 43 years. They were blessed with three daughters and one grandson. Lillian was a doting wife and mother, and she especially cherished the role of grandmother. Lillian will always be remembered as Ms. Ladson.

Lillian was preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers: Edward C. Ladson, Samson R. Ladson, and Kenneth Rembert; sisters: Mildred Devoe-McClerklin and Joanie M. Rembert-Sims; and a nephew: Jernell A. Ladson.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Harvey Asbury of the home; daughters: Latasha R. Ladson of the home, Marquita L. Asbury of Orangeburg, SC, and Shawanda L. (Morciré) Asbury-Bangoura of Durham, NC; sisters: Rosa M. Taste of Eutawville, SC and Yolanda Rembert of Pineville, SC; brother: Randolph (Barbara) Rembert of Pineville; grandson: Amari T. Middleton of Orangeburg, SC; sisters-in-law: Peggy Ladson of Jamison, SC, Jeanette White and Kittie Asbury both of Vance, SC, and Gloria J. (Willie) Capers of Santee, SC.
