Annie Lee White Clinton Life Reflections

Annie Lee White Clinton, born on February 15, 1933, in Vance, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Elliott White, Sr. and Mrs. Minnie Wright White, was called home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2024.

Educated in the public school system of Berkley and Orangeburg County in South Carolina, Annie Lee completed her schooling with multiple passions. Early in life, after marrying, Annie Lee left home and went on to raise two young children in Ohio. Later, she embarked on a new life in New York, NY, alongside her sisters and brothers.

Following the loss of her mother in 1959 Annie Lee returned to Eutawville, SC, where she helped her father care for her younger siblings and the land that would become her pride and joy for over fifty years. Her caring and nurturing nature endeared her to many, earning her the reputation of a community caregiver. As a self-employed seamstress, she skillfully tailored and created garments for family and friends. Her hands, gifted by God, also blessed many with seasonal baked goods, including pound cakes, sweet potato pies, and fruit cakes all without a written recipe and ingredients from her family's beloved land. Later in life she became known as the community's "Avon Lady," delivering essential goods right to people's doors.

Annie Lee's heart was dedicated to her Live Oak AME Church membership in Vance, South Carolina. She held various roles within the church, including Deaconess, President of the Gospel Choir, President of the Usher Board (where she served for 56 years), Stewardess Board, Mass Choir, Women's Missionary, and was awarded the title of Ms. Live Oak.

Preceding her in death were her late husband, Cato Clinton; daughter, Ruby Mae Gilbert; and ten siblings: John Henry, Estelle Devoe, Isaac White Sr., Janie James, Minnie White, Ruthie Brown, James White, Elliott White Jr., Infant Elliott White, and Willie White.

Left to cherish her fond memories forever: two daughters, Barbara James (Isaiah) of Columbia, SC and Patricia Jenkins (Ray) of Greensboro, SC; Tyrone Clinton of Eutawville, SC; two sisters, Lucille Ricks of Eutawville, SC and Mary Warner of Vance, SC; four sisters-in-law: Hannah White of Eutawville, SC, Lula White of Vance, SC, Willa Peoples of Vance, and Alfred Snowden of New Jersey; two brothers-in-law, Esau Clinton of Vance and William Jamison; seven grandchildren, Tonya James-Jenkins (Ernest), Eric James (Lacey), Kevin Jenkins, Kauri Jenkins, Karyn Simmons (Vernard), Anjel Jenkins, and Jasmine Clinton; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved Godchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
